A local favorite just off the gold-rush square — grab a latte and let the kids pick a pastry, then wander the storefronts for a few minutes before the drive. Closed Sundays, so this is a Monday-to-Saturday plan.

Open swim usually starts late morning, so aim to arrive as gates open and beat the afternoon rush. There's a playground and reservable picnic tables too. Heads up: no outside food or drinks inside, so plan on lunch after.

Pinetree Recreation Center & Water Park pairs a gym and pickleball courts with a seasonal water park that has two slides, a splash zone, a lazy river, and a lap pool. Plan for everyone to leave wetter and happier than they arrived.
Warbington Farms is a seasonal u-pick farm in Cumming built around strawberry season (spring through early June), with play areas, a petting zoo, hayrides where you can feed the cows, a wildflower-picking area, and seasonal events like an Easter egg hunt and pumpkin picking through the year. No pets are allowed except service animals. Keep it in mind for a day when the kids need action and your house needs a brief vacation from them.
Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville is a smaller, quieter counterpart to the flagship Atlanta garden, with three short woodland trail loops, about a half-mile each, that are mostly shaded and easy for young walkers. The Lou Glenn Children's Garden here has play structures kids are allowed to climb on, unlike the rest of the garden where visitors are asked to stay off plantings. A nice choice for moving little legs while giving grown-up brains a bit of breathing room.
know before you go: the 0.8-mile trail is paved the whole way — bring the stroller. Kids get in free, and the last ticket sells at 4 PM.

Anna Ruby Falls
Anna Ruby Falls is a short double-waterfall hike in Cleveland that is a good fit for families, though the paved path is steep in stretches. A jogging stroller or child carrier handles the climb better than a standard stroller for younger kids. Stone benches line the path for a breather on the way back up. A good pick when you want fresh air, easy conversation, and fewer things beeping at everyone.
